Early in A Course in Miracles, Jesus tells us, “My trust in you is greater than yours in me at the moment, but it will not always be that way” (T-4.VI.6:1). Trust is a central theme throughout the Course, its importance underscored in the manual where Jesus asserts that all other traits of a teacher of God, such as gentleness, defenselessness, and patience, rest on it and follow from it (M-4.II.1:1-2). This program considers what the Course means by trust, what it means to trust Jesus, and the role of developing trust in Jesus in our healing process. Issues explored include the gradual transition from dependency on external forms and symbols to increasing reliance on our inner teacher, and from seeking specific guidance and intervention about situations and events in our lives to asking for help with releasing our belief in sin and guilt in our minds. In the very end, we come to realize that we and Jesus are the same—“And thus you joined with me, so what I am are you as well” (W-pII.14.2:3)—and with him know that “God is my life and yours” (T-11.IV.6:7).
